Canada’s most prestigious undergraduate STEM scholarship, awarded to 100 entrepreneurial-minded high school graduates enrolling in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math programs at 20 partner universities. Joanne Brookes Automotive Scholarship

Bob McCaig Memorial Award Deadline May 31st
Amount of Award – 6 awards at $1,500 each (1 per school) The Bob McCaig Elgin County Award was established in 2020 to honour the memory of Bob McCaig and his legacy of commitment to community, education and the environment. Student applications will be received from all Elgin County secondary schools (Arthur Voaden, Secondary School, Central Elgin Secondary School, East Elgin Secondary School, Parkside Collegiate Institute, St. Joseph’s Catholic High School and West Elgin Secondary School) and the recipient will be chosen based on the following Criteria: Applicant will show excellence in academic achievement, school extra-curricular activities, and community-involvement. Preference given to a student with financial need. A copy of your academic transcript, documentation of volunteer work, and proof of enrolment in an accredited Canadian College or University. In one or two sentences tell the committee why you are the best candidate for this scholarship Please Note: All applicants will turn in their completed application to their school’s guidance department. Each school will submit all student applications to the address provided. The deadline for student applications will be June 1, 2020. The recipient will be chosen by the Sweetgrass Fund Committee. A representative will be available to present the award at the student’s commencement ceremony.

Josh & Cassie Kuntz Engineering Scholarship ($2500.00) due April 24
Awarded to a student who demonstrates academic excellence and will be entering their first year of studies in a computer science or engineering program
Scholarship 1: For top students in math and computers. Must have strong grades and competition results. Must pursue Engineering, CS, or Math.
Scholarship 2: For top students with financial need. Must have strong academics and be going into Engineering, CS, or Math.

Father Ernie Deslippe Memorial Scholarship
Value:2 x $1000.00 Due May 22
All applicants must be a practicing Roman Catholic from the Elgin County Roman Catholic Family of Parishes (letter from your parish priest required).
All applicants must have attended a Secondary School (Catholic, Public, Private or Emersion) in the past two years. Letter of proof required from the Secondary School along with recent marks.
Applicants should be the child of a father or grandchild of a grandfather who is a member in good standing of Fr. Ernie Deslippe Council 1467 or a deceased member. (Applications from students who are not related to a member or deceased member of the Knights of Columbus will also be accepted).
Complete applications must include a current Ontario Student Status Form.
Applicants must be accepted by a University, College, or any recognized Trade School. A copy of the acceptance letter must be provided. Proof of Registration and initial payment of tuition fees must be provided before issuance of the scholarship.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to highlight their Academic achievements and voluntarism in School, Parish, Council 1467, and Community activities.
Applicants are also to write a typed essay of approx. 500 words (650 max) on one of the following topics: 1. How God reflects on your life, your life goals and family life or 2. How can you be faithful to God, Community and Family. Videos are not accepted. Essays completed using AI will be detected and rejected. The file should be converted to a PDF file for submission.
Completed applications must be received by Council 1467 via [email protected] or dropped of at the main office at St Joseph’s High School in the year the applicant is graduating from Secondary School. Applications received after the deadline shall not be accepted.

In order to commemorate the life and artistic achievements of Clark McDougall and to encourage and support future generations of artists, a scholarship fund has been established in Clark McDougall's name by his family. Each year two $1000.00 awards are presented to two graduating secondary school students from St. Thomas and Elgin County, who are pursuing visual or graphic arts at a post secondary level.
- $1000.00 for any graduating student entering a traditional post secondary fine arts program which included studio courses in drawing and painting.
- $1000.00 for any graduating student entering any other post secondary visual arts program which may include arts, photography, design and architecture or any other program deemed appropriate by the selection committee.
Student are required to apply in person to the St. Thomas-Elgin Public Art Centre with the following:
- Four (4) original works of art
- Works labeled on the back with artist's name, titled, date and medium
- A letter outlining career objectives and which of the two school scholarships is being applied for
- The student's SIN # must be included
- A confirmation of acceptance to a first year fine arts/visual arts program at a post secondary institution

Criteria: A graduating student who has demonstrated all around interest in the construction industry together with scholastic aptitude.
Procedure for Applying: The student will prepare and submit an approximate 500 word essay explaining why the student should receive the scholarship. Provide a brief self-profile outlining their participation in school life/community activities and any interest/involvement in the pro-life cause. The student must submit a typed original essay, approximately 1,200 words in length. The essay topic :The best lack all convictions, while the worst are full of passionate intensity. W.B. Yeats, The Second Coming, 1920. Yeats was presenting a dark, apocalyptic vision of the world just after World War I. Discuss whether or how that terrifying imagery may apply to the present state of civilization, considering the abortion issue, the seeming collapse of related traditional values and an increasing confusion about the sacredness and dignity of human life.

Ontario Home Builder's Association-Trade Scholarship Due June 20th
SWOHS 2024 - Scholarship Letter (1)
The Elgin Federation of Agriculture (EFA) is a member-based county affiliate of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA), one of Ontario’s general farm organizations. The EFA supports and advocates on behalf of 1100+ farm families in the County of Elgin, while raising awareness of the importance of agricultural and food systems. The EFA would like to assist EFA members and their families through the development of an educational bursary. The $500 cash bursary will be awarded to a family member of a EFA member. The bursary will be given to an applicant that demonstrates their ability and desire to use their post- secondary education to the benefit of agriculture. Please note- the applicant does not need to be going into an agricultural specific program, but one that could assist in the agricultural industry as a whole. Trade schools and business schools will be accepted. Applications and any supporting documents to be submitted by June 30th, 2024.

Are you a resident of Elgin County or St. Thomas and studying at a post-Secondary Institution in Canada in a discipline related to agriculture?
Value: 2 x $2,500 (1 - male, 1 - female)
Criteria: Student (Year 4) plans to attend a college or university in Canada to study in an agriculturally related program (ex. agricultural sciences, agri-business, agri-tourism, nutrition, earth sciences and food sciences).
Essay Required: An essay of 1,000 words or less on a provided topic. A statement of 250 words or less on a provided topic.
Other Documentation: Three letters of reference (including one from the principal or vice-principal). Resume outlining past employment and/or extra-curricular activities.

Criteria: Preference will be given to students planning careers as firefighters. However, students pursuing careers as paramedics or police officers may be eligible.
Essay Required: 250-500 word essay outlining why they wish a career in emergency services
