Extracurricular Opportunities
We believe learning math extends beyond the classroom. Our department offers some additional opportunities for students to challenge themselves, get extra support, and deepen their appreciation for mathematics.
Math Contests
Each year, students have the opportunity to participate in the University of Waterloo Mathematics Contests. These contests allow students to apply their problem-solving skills in fun and challenging ways, while competing with peers from all over the world. Below are the confirmed dates for the 2025–26 season:
- Canadian Intermediate & Senior Mathematics Contests (CIMC & CSMC) (Grades 9–10 & 11–12)
Date: Wednesday, November 12, 2025
- Euclid Contest (Grade 12, advanced full-solution contest)
Date: Tuesday, March 31, 2026
- Fryer, Galois & Hypatia Contests (Grades 9–11, full-solution format)
Date: Wednesday, April 1, 2026
Math Help Sessions
To support student success, extra help sessions are offered for any current Grade 9 or 10 math student who is seeking additional practice, clarification, or review.
- When: Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 2:45 – 4:15 p.m.
- Where: Room 158
- Who: All Grade 9 and 10 students seeking additional assistance are welcome!
These sessions are designed to provide a supportive environment where students can ask questions, strengthen their understanding, and build confidence in math.
Students wishing to receive extra help need to fill out a Math Help Form and get it signed by a parent. Forms can be obtained from any math teacher or download the form below.
